5 Occurrences of Every College Kids Winter Break

Standard

The stress of finals are finally over which means it’s time for a great break filled with family, hometown faves, friends, food, and sleep.  These are 5 things that are 99% sure to be in every college kids winter break plans.

Sleeeeeeep.  Every college kid during the normal class week has to have an alarm set at least 5 days a week in order to be up & ready for class/work.  On top of that you also stay up for ages with either homework or going out with friends.  When you finally are home for a month you basically are in full on sloth mode.

Eat.  Besides binge eating every single food substance over the different holidays during break you also have REAL actual meals that are made for you besides eating ramen.  It’s a whole new take on “Freshmen 15”.kate hudson eating

25 Days of Christmas.  No matter how old you are watching 25 Days of Christmas on ABC family is one of the best things ever right next to 13 Nights of Halloween.elf gif

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.  Even if you don’t want to admit it one of the most exciting things about going back home is parties with old friends especially when they’re ugly Christmas sweater themed.ugly christmas sweater

Restock.  When it’s time to go back to school it’s time to bat those eyes and be extra kind to mom and dad so they’ll buy you all your food and randomness so that you’re set up for the new semester.  Thanks parentals! food

The month long break will surely be an amazing rest, but we all know after week 2 week are about ready to head back to school and get back in our groove.  But sleep and food are always nice so just enjoy and good luck for next semester.

The next Christmas cookie you should bake…

Standard

Since Christmas is right around the corner I thought I’d share one of my faaaaavorite Christmas cookie recipes!  I call it the “cupcake-cookie” and get this, it’s only 4 ingredients!  This recipe will for sure have your friends and family unbuttoning their pants as they continuously reach for more.  People will definitely be asking for this recipe.

Ingredients:

1 box of devils food cake mix

2 eggs

1/3c. vegetable oil

Candy Cane Hershey kisses (around 30)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line your baking sheets with parchment paper/tin foil
  2. Mix your cake mix, eggs, and oil until smooth.
  3. Scoop little dough balls a little smaller than a tablespoon and place onto baking sheets.
  4. Bake for 5-7 minutes. Let them cool for about 2 minutes and place your unwrapped Hershey kiss into the center.
  5. You can also sprinkle festive sprinkles on top or dust on some powdered sugar!
  6.   Viola! A yummy Christmas cookie for the friends & fam.

These are the ones I made! I subbed for Hershey’s Milk Chocolate kisses because my family is filled with chocoholics.  I did however add some red & green sprinkles for the spirit of Christmas!

Special thanks to YourCupofCake for sharing this delicious recipe.

Gift Ideaz

Standard

Sooo we all have those Secret Santa exchanges where everyone is a broke college student, but you still have to manage to scrounge up a decent gift.  Here are some helpful ideas to get you through the holiday season.

  1. Drunken Gummy Bears.  Simply take a pack of gummy bears and use whichever vodka you have laying around (we all know you have some).  Pour about 2/3 of the pack of gummy bears into a pan and pour the Vodka in until all are covered.  Place them in the fridge for a few days and watch them grow.  After 2 or 3 days place them in a mason jar and simply tie twine around it will a label saying whatever ya want!
  2. Toilet Mug.  What other way to stay jolly and merry than a toilet mug?  This mug that literally looks like a toilet will get anyone receiving this present laughing.  Check out amazon.com to snatch one.
  3. Butt Shorts.  Forget the squats and jump right into shorts that don’t make you work for a butt.  These shorts resemble an actual butt.  Of course this wonderful creation can be found on the world wide range of items found on Amazon.com.
  4. Onesie.  A onesie seems basic, but no.  Onesie’s are pure joy.  Everything is covered and warm in a fun design or character and should be on every christmas list, I mean honestly.
  5. Funny Socks.  I mean it is winter so go take a lap around Amazon, Urban Outfitters, Target, Walmart etc. and see what weird sock designs you can snag for your friends i.e. bart mooning socks?
  6. Gift card.  Save yourself any of this nonsense and stop at Chipotle to grab them a gift card.  This promotes an aggressive addiction among college kids.  Also, helps to feed them during times when their bank account is below zero.

Good luck shopping, don’t get trampled 🙂

Colour Pop Cosmetics: review

Standard

Colour Pop is by far one of my all time favorite makeup brands and definitely should be added to your shopping list this holiday season!  This is an affordable and amazing quality brand.  I have been into lip colors ever since I came to college because this is when you actually get the chance to experiment and be bold with your makeup.  I was introduced to this lovely brand by a friend and let me tell you it was eye opening.  Every time I would go to look for a bold lip color (before Colour Pop) I would go to look at the price and be like…f’real that much for lipstick?!  Then, when I found this brand I was like, YES THANK YOU.  All their “lippie stix”, “ultra matte lip”, and “lippie pencils” are $5.  Yes, $5.  Yet, another reason to buy these wonderful lip products besides the well affordable price is the quality!  The lippie stix are made with shea butter and other natural oils in order to keep your lips hydrated as you wear it which also prevents the color from flaking off!

I recently expanded my purchases in the Colour Pop world to eye products.  I purchased the super shock shadow in “Famous” and their creme gel liner in “overboard”.  Honestly, before even applying them onto my eyes I already had high hopes of the final results so was a bit nervous for my hopes to be let down.  Well…they weren’t!  The eyeshadow goes on amazingly and has a build-able coverage.  Since, it has more of a creamy texture I applied it with my ring finger which made the color come out very evenly and it lasted all night!  The eye liner also applied like a gem.  It had an amazing texture on my eye and was just the right amount of metallic.  All my experiences with Colour Pop thus far have been amazing and I can not wait to try out their cheek colors next!  I highly recommend this brand to any female because they seriously are the bomb.com for both your face and wallet.

Some of the lippie stix I currently have (along with the matching lip liner)!

These are the eye products!

Quinoa for, breakfast? Yes.

Standard

Typically, I have a bowl of oatmeal every single morning I just never seem to get bored with eating it every day.  BUT, I’ve recently discovered a new breakfast love…quinoa!  Normally, I’ll eat this on the side for dinner, but I decided to switch it up.

Ingredients:

1/4c. quinoa

3/4c. water

1tsp. cinnamon + more to garnish

banana slices

hand full of blueberries

1tbsp. peanut butter to top

honey (optional)

almond slivers (optional)

Directions:

Put the quinoa, water, and cinnamon into a bowl and cook for 4 minutes in the microwave.  Remove from the microwave, stir and then place back in the microwave for another 3 minutes.  After microwaving, cover with aluminum foil for 2 minutes then fluff up and add the extra toppings!  Feel free to add milk to add a creamier texture after covering with foil.

Pair with hot lemon water!

Healthy Peanut Butter Cookies

Standard

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cup canned chickpeas (rinsed and patted dry)

2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 c + 2 tbsp of natural nut butter of choice

1/4 c honey, or agave, or maple syrup

1 tsp baking powder

pinch of salt (if nut butter doesn’t have it)

1/2 c semi sweet chocolate chips/cacao nibs

Directions:

First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Combine all ingredients into a food processor until smooth EXCEPT for the chocolate chips.  Make sure your scrape down the sides in order to get every possible ingredient and process again until well combined.

Next, stir the chocolate chips into the batter if it’s not working you can pulse once or twice to combine it.  This mixture will be sticky and thick!

Using wet hands form into small balls and press slightly on top of the ball.  Bake for about 10 minutes.  These will be soft and not set like a normal cookies would.  When ready to store, place them in an airtight container in either the fridge or at room temperature for about a week!

P.S. these are my favorite.

Enjoy!
